Ed’s Progress…..

Ed Grisedale is back fighting fit. It was good to see him back on the water training in his single this weekend.

Ed is at present much involved in the GB Under 23 programme. He attended, as a result of good performances, a weekend U23 training camp at Nottingham in early November.
Jed Barlow, his coach, has just confirmed that Ed has received and accepted an “official” invitation to join a development group to take part in a High Altitude Training Camp in the Sierra Nevada, Spain next month. What a great start to 2012!

Meanwhile, Saturday 17 December, it is the GB Senior Trials at Boston, Lincolnshire which is a 5 K compulsory squad time trial. Within this Senior Trial there will be a number of U23 men and Ed will be a part of this group. Ed is no stranger to this venue and level of competition but the pressure will be even greater! “I’m thrilled to be part of this and I’m looking forward to meeting up with my mates from the Junior World Championships and of course having a chat with fellow club person, Olympian, Matthew Langridge” explained Ed. We all wish you Good Luck and we look forward to hearing all about it!

2011 Volunteer Awards were held at a special ceremony in London in November. This year the ceremony also included the Coach of the Year Awards in a move to celebrate the work of individuals across the sport at the same time.
Northwich RC is very proud and delighted that Jed Barlow was commended in the Club Performance Award 2011 in recognition of the coaching of Ed Grisedale from complete beginner to member of the GB Junior squad. “What motivates me is helping the club produce the best people and giving them the best possible chance” he says, “and putting something back into the sport that’s given me so much pleasure over the years”.
Congratulations, Jed, from all of us at the club!
