Northwich Rowing Club is delighted to be celebrating a win at the Pairs Head of the River Race on the Thames Tideway, London on Saturday 8th October 2011.
Ed Drisedale and Joe Guppy won Intermediate1 Double Scull category.

This 4,000 m race down steam, on the ebb tide, from Chiswick to Hammersmith Bridge features over 400 entries male and female from junior, senior & masters races in pairs and double sculls. The double completed the course in 12.02, a fast time over this distance aided by a strong tide and tail wind finishing 13th overall.
This is the first time they have raced this event and despite being critical of the row both enjoyed the experience hoping to return next year. “We could have rowed better but winning our category was the most important thing” said Ed.

Ed (NRC) was teamed with Joe from Eastbourne RC to compete at the 2011 FISA World Junior Championships at Dorney Lake, Eaton in the summer when they reached the final of their event. They have forged a strong bond proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

Training is difficult as they are based hundreds of miles apart but they hope to compete at Northwich RC’s Small Boats Head Race on Sun 13 Nov in the double scull.

NRC will be sending a large entry of boats to Agecroft RC Head of the River race at Salford Quays on Sat 15 Oct.
The annual George Musker Awards will take place at the Clubhouse on Sun 16 Oct.
