Peterborough Regatta 13-14th Aug 2011

Two days of four lane racing on the 1000m rowing lake in Peterborough. This is a great venue for the sport, a fantastic event to take part in. The weather over the weekend was cloudy with sunny intervals, no rain with a brisk tail wind which died off on the Sunday.

Saturday (1000m event)
The club put entries in the following events IM2.1x (Andy Malins), W.Nov.1x (Mel Benson), IM3.2x (Nick Parkes - Str and Phil Hewitt - Bow) and IM3.4+ (James Morrison - Cox, Tom Fuller - Str, Chris Crawford - 3, Matt Begley - 2 and Adam Webster - Bow). The crews who entered gained some really good experience, unfortunately the standard of the competion was very high and none of the crews made it to the finals.

Sunday (500m event)
The IM3.4+ crew stuck around for this event and were the only NRC entry on the Sunday, this was a more successful days rowing than the Saturday. The day started well with a win in the heat, followed up with second in the semi final qualifying the crew for the final. The final was a very close race which was won by Reading RC the Northwich crew came third. Overall 3rd out of 12 crews, this is a great acheivement for a crew which started this years regatta season as  novice oarsmen.

Special thanks to Nick Emmett the mens squad coach who organised the attendance of this event for Northwich RC
